Privacy Policy – Squarely
This policy explains how the Squarely app (iOS and Android) handles user data, in line with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”).
No Account
Works right away without sign-up or login.
Zero Ads or Tracking
No advertising SDKs, profiling, or third-party trackers.
On-Device Processing
Photos and measurements stay securely on your device.
GDPR Compliant
Transparent handling with full respect for your rights.
Data Controller
In short
Squarely is a digital level and angle-measuring app. It works without an account, shows no ads, uses no analytics or tracking tools, and does not send your content to the Controller’s servers.
Data stored only on your device
The following data is stored only in your device’s local storage and is never sent to the Controller:
- measurements, notes and projects;
- photos you take or import in the app;
- calibration values and preferences (language, units, theme and similar).
The Controller cannot see or recover this data. You can delete it from the app at any time. Uninstalling the app deletes it too, except for any device backups you manage yourself through iCloud or Google.
Device permissions
- Motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope): used to calculate tilt and angles. The data is processed on the device in real time and is not stored or sent anywhere.
- Camera: used for the augmented reality level and to photograph things you want to measure. Images stay on your device.
- Photo library: used only to import the photos you pick, so you can measure angles on them.
The app does not use the microphone and does not ask for your location. You can revoke permissions at any time in your device settings.
Sharing and exporting
When you export measurements (for example as a CSV file) or share an image, the app opens your operating system’s share sheet. Your data goes only where you choose. From then on, it is handled by the apps or services you picked, under their own privacy policies.
In-app purchases and subscriptions
Purchases (subscriptions and the lifetime purchase) are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). The Controller never receives your payment details.
To check whether a purchase is active and to restore purchases, the app uses RevenueCat, Inc. (USA), which acts as a data processor. RevenueCat receives:
- an anonymous user ID generated by the app;
- purchase receipts and purchase history;
- technical data such as device model, operating system version, app version, store country or currency, and IP address.
Third-party privacy policies:
Reviews
If you choose to leave a review, the app uses Apple’s or Google’s built-in review feature. The review is handled entirely by the store.
Advertising and tracking
Squarely shows no ads, uses no analytics or profiling SDKs, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
How long data is kept
- Local data: stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- RevenueCat data: kept as long as needed to manage purchases and meet legal obligations, under RevenueCat’s own policies.
Your rights
Under Articles 15–22 GDPR, you can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its processing or receive it in a portable format, and you can object to its processing. To do so, write to the address in section 1.
The app does not link data to your name, email or any other direct identifier. For requests about purchases, you may need to help us find your anonymous user ID.
You also have the right to file a complaint with a data protection authority. In Italy, this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (www.garanteprivacy.it). You can also contact the authority in the EU country where you live.
Children
Squarely is not directed at children under 13 (or under the minimum age set by the law of your country, which in Italy is 14). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
This policy may be updated. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
